The article reviews research and theoretical analyses and presents the conclusions of the own research in two problem areas: women’s identity during aging and adaptation process of aging women to widowhood. General conclusions tend to believe that women in the autumn of their life should be treated as individuals with different, and not only stereotypically-negative, individual experience, formed as a result of events characteristic of the last stage of life. The various coping with the losses of old age is essential in terms of physical attractiveness and social functioning. It seems that the process of adaptation to widowhood among women in the autumn of life, is being moderated by the “dettachment of style of a life partner.”pl
