Abstract

The article deals with the image of saved and saving books in literature, at the turn of the century. Works of Russian writers are considered in the context of art (painting, sculpture, film). Topos book is considered as a mechanism for the preservation of cultural memory, is sustainable, universally, while the semantics topos branches new, current values. The image of the the saved / saving books, representing the truth becomes one of the central works of writers in transitional periods. There are two possible interpretations of the concept of "salvation." On the one hand, we are talking about saving the soul, and then the image of the book itself should be related to the Bible. On the other hand, the book is related to cultural memory, accumulates the best achievements of the past, retains the socially significant information. First of all, we are talking about the works of classical literature, in need of salvation. The disappearance of the book is often correlated with the story of the apocalypse, therefore, the book needs to be saved for the future.
