Konflikty religijne w Świecie Dysku

Abstract

This article is focused on the concept of religious conflicts depicted in Terry Pratchett’s novels. The Discworld is a universe where such conflicts are related to the most significant matters. These matters include standing the test of time of cities and states, the policy of governments, the national and individual identity. Pratchett takes advantage of his fictional world to criticize religion and, as a result, to elaborate on the human nature. Furthermore, he provides tips for a future and suggests that a change is necessary. These suggestions are not clear; they are rather only outlines of changes which consist in cooperation, mutual comprehension and open-mindedness. The open-mindedness of religion to other faith, to its followers’ needs and to another man. The open-mindedness of all people to a non-believer, an atheist, an immigrant, a woman and anybody who can be seen as different.
