Рецепції християнських цінностей у народнопісенній культурі українців

Abstract

The present article discusses the issues of study of the Christian values in various song genres of the Ukrainian folklore – calendar‑ritual, family‑ritual songs, non‑ritual folk lyrics. Christianity substantially influenced the folklore and archaic traditions; it had an especially great impact on the ancient calendar, which lead to its partial deformation. Since its adoption and until our times, pagan rituals have transformed and acquired many Christian features. Religious views, concepts, attributes penetrated into folklore genres; new sacred images of Jesus Christ, the Blessed Virgin, apostles, and saints appeared. This impact can be traced in carols, hayivkas (Easter songs), harvest songs, wedding songs, baptism songs and many other songs. This theme also penetrated into folk songs about love, family life and social lyrics – appeals to God in different life situations, thoughts about fate, happy marriage; God becomes the guardian of lovers and the key to their fidelity and happiness; He is the protector of families, soldiers, and defenders of the Motherland. It has been concluded that the Christian spiritual, moral, ethical and aesthetic values (such as humanism, kindness, mercy, beauty, harmony) prevail in the folk song culture. It is proposed to continue studying the axiology of Christianity not only through the lens of the theological approach, but also from the religious and folklore viewpoint.
