Abstract

Among the so-called anthropologists, who present human behavior primarily in the ethological dimension with a stable and dynamic habit, a complex of ideas about the world, hospitality is perhaps the most indicative. This category is so universal that it is in some sense equal to such cultural and civilizational commoners as truth, beauty, good, being. In every way labeled according to the thesaurus of the epoch, common code, and type of literature, hospitality becomes an extremely moving category with a marked attraction to comparative typology and extended semantics. On the rights of hospitality, the Ukrainian literature of the first decades of the nineteenth century is changing its face as well, joining European writing and identifying itself as a local entity with a distinct vector of peripherality, quite natural for its provincialism. Unlocking channels to learn another’s tradition, she hospitably treats it, creatively assimilates its forms and creates its own, national, embedded in native soil. It is a meta-level of hospitality, through which the subordinate rituals, models and circuits within the works of art are viewed through it, that is, in the system of events and fi gurative clutches. Provincialism is devoid of any negative connotation here, but rather associated with a powerful cultural complex to signify passionarity and influence on the formation of national identity.
