Abstract

The article analyzes the story У сям’і (In the Family, 1943–1955), by a prominent Belarusian writer Yanka Bryl. An attempt was made to demonstrate in what way autobiographism manifests itself in the story. Attention was paid to factors that influence individual stages in the formation of the character of a young man, and in what way the author presents them. It is emphasized that the period of childhood and early youth years, as shown by Yanka Bryl, become a pretext for reflections on the role of the family, literature, finally the first literary attempts.
