Abstract

The author attempts to analyse the relationship between the two phenomena: the feeling of resentment and the functioning of independent media in the Polish People’s Republic. However, the aim of the article is not to discuss any of the topics in detail, only to signal that both bore influence on the forming of public opinion and attitudes. Resentment is presented as a feeling used by the authorities to exercise control, to spread hatred and to falsify reality. In turn, the independent media, which in this article is represented by the Studio Video-Kontact in Paris, counteracting the social engineering of resentment, exemplify the struggle for free speech, authenticity and democracy that the culture of truth comprises of.
