Abstract

In the twentieth century the concepts claiming changes in family intergenerational relationships came in sight. The reproduction of ideological and value orientations was replaced in them by the issue of knowledge transfer, which in Margaret Mead's theory takes the form of three types of cultural exchange of knowledge between the older and the younger generations. Nina Fedorova's novel The Family, published for the first time in 1940 in the US in English, was translated into 12 languages and was reprinted in America more than 18 times. The novel received a high recognition due to the fact that it created a "Gestalt" of the family value environment, in which the national ideological fundamental values are permanently being retransmited from the older to the younger generations.
