Ojczyzna jako topos i marzenie w twórczości M. Rodziewiczówny, Cz. Miłosza i T. Konwickiego

Abstract

The article presents the concept of homeland as a literary topos and a dream in the writings of three authors: Maria Rodziewiczówna, Czesław Miłosz, and Tadeusz Konwicki. Their biographies, individual literary styles, as well as perceptions of the world and people are integrally related to Wilno region, Polish former borderland, and our history. The concept of homeland is understood as an element of imagination and homesickness of both the authors or the characters of their works. It is also analysed not only in terms of literary contents, but also style, language, literary and poetic instruments. Other, non-artistic statements of these authors are also essential in this discussion, concerning their lives, history, and memory, determining and reviving an ancient world in its current reality, influencing creativity, cultural awareness and identity of – an author – a poet, a writer or a filmmaker, or a reader and a spectator.
