Abstract

Stasiuk places the action of several volumes of stories in the 1990s, which brought political and social changes in Europe and Poland, but above all he is interested in the consequences of historical accidents following changes in the existence of average people. That is why his writing is characterized by a specific sensitivity to detail, the accumulation of which is not merely a random calculation or stylistic mannerism, but plays an important role in the interpretation of the presented world, because by the selection of calculated objects and buildings Stasiuk exposes certain elements of the landscape, in fact, indirectly suggesting to the reader the direction of interpretation. He captures the fate of the characters by describing things that surround them and which elucidated their condition.
