Wiersze na mogiłę Orzeszkowej

Abstract

The author of the paper discusses poetic works honouring Eliza Orzeszkowa (1841-1910) after her death. A large number of tributes appeared all over the country, including mostly poems and poetic epicediums. The text brings back a large part of these poems excavated from old magazines. The researcher also introduces the profiles of their creators, today often forgotten, who worshipped Orzeszkowa posthumously. He emphasizes: “The mood of mourning, melancholy, collective sadness and recollecting the person and the words of the deceased was partly built through personal memories of meetings with Orzeszkowa printed in newspapers and journals, and partly - through poems published in the press mainly over the first week after the writer’s death. Their number is similar those published on the occasion of the forteth anniversary of her literary work celebrated in 1906-1907”.
