Relacja socjolekt–idiolekt na przykładzie języka Zagłoby

Abstract

The article discusses – on the example of Zagłoba’s language – characteristics of the 17th-century gentry sociolect. Particular attention was paid to two aspects of this variant of Polish: Polish‑Latin melange (the so‑called use of macaronics in one of the meanings of this term accepted by C. Backvis) being the result of bilingualism typical of nearly the whole gentry, and the other characteristic feature of the gentry sociolect – in reference to the borderline gentry – Polish‑Ruthenian melange resulting from historical circumstances of the 16th century, when Ruthenian began influencing Polish in a deeper way.
