Konstrukcje porównawcze – przegląd ujęć typologicznych

Abstract

Comparisons do not constitute a homogenous class of linguo‑stylistic phenomena. A wide range of their usage and different history of each individual structural type comparatio in the Polish language is associated with heterogeneous comparative structures on both synchronic and diachronic levels. The article is a theoretical synthesis, which presents elementary classification approaches to comparative links found in literature devoted to a category of comparison. The research paper has been prepared within the framework of comparative image in the oeuvre of Juliusz Słowacki. Consequently, the illustrative material has been taken from his works, including poems and poetic prose written before 1842. The paper discusses classification of comparisons into the following categories: 1) continuous and non‑continuous comparisons, 2) gradation and non‑gradation comparisons (with intermediate types), 3) lexicalized and temporary comparisons, 4) textual (in‑text type) and associative (culture type) comparisons. Homeric comparisons are discussed separately.
