Abstract

How are “old and proven” models of the metaphorisation of space, in certain aspects common for Poles and Germans (east-west, iron curtain, life in the shade of the wall) used in the latest Polish prose? Literature created twenty years after the democratic breakthrough in Europe, the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany, still strictly sticks to old models of “spatialisation” of culture, but basing on them, it attempts to break this bipolar approach and pass from a general experience of cultural space towards its individualisation.
