Przestrzeń choroby – miejsce biografii. Kartografia psychosomatyczna w Opowieści dla przyjaciela Haliny Poświatowskiej

Abstract

The author uses psychosomatic cartography to interpret Halina Poświatowska’s autobiographic text Opowieść dla przyjaciela. She discovers that the disease-generated new topography denies traditional places in biography, and that its meaning is frequently shifted in the narrative. The disease plays manifold role in creating the discourse, and here the most important processes include the following aspects: shaping discursive space of the disease, reinterpreting traditional places in autobiography, weaving the hospital episodes into the patient’s autonarrative identity, and also connecting the metaphors of bodily and spatial experience. This multidimensional analysis finally allows the question about the true nature of the status of language, body, and death as auto-bio-geo-graphical places.
