Abstract

In the poetry of Anna Janko, the demarcation between the poetic persona and the world manifests itself as an ambivalence. This constant negotiating of frontiers happens through a creative isolating and integrating of the spheres “within oneself” and “outside oneself” against the background of individual, family, social, and national experiences. The evolution of Janko’s work constitutes evidence of the changes in her artistic and every-day frontiers.
