Abstract

The Church as a reality both human and divine fulfills her mission of salvation in the circumstances of the modern world. The faithful who constitute the visible structures of the Church, and at the same time are living in the world, take upon themselves a duty to live their Christian identity and thus to realize salvation, by which they introduce sacredness into everyday life. In order to regain the proper ethical balance, the contemporary man needs to maintain the proper equilibrium of the material, technical and cultural development on one hand and the humanistic, maral, and spiritual development on the other. Man will not be able to function properly in the material world unless his morality, spirituality, hope and a feeling of transcendence towards nature are reinforced. An analysis of the problems of man functioning in the Church and in the world in the light of the thought of Vatican II has been carried out in this article based on the following questions: 1. Main ideas about the Church; 2. The dialectic of the contemporary world; 3. The complementarity of the Church and the world; reception and perspectives.
