| Abstrakt: | This article gives a general overview of mortgage in Russian law in the 15th- 16th centuries. Antichresis was the most popular form of mortgage at the time. If the debtor failed to satisfy the debt, title to the property vested with the creditor. Such combination of antichresis and lex commissoria gave advantage to the creditor. Nevertheless other types of mortgage were also practiced. |
