Abstract

It has become an important and crucial objective of European Union policy to award public procurement contracts for supply, services or construction works, which carry a guarantee that meeting the needs of the present generation will not compromise the needs of future generations. It concerns economic, social and environmental aspects of the strategic policy. The subject of this study is to present measures taken to support and promote the policy for the benefit of sustainable consumption and production at both European Union (I) and domestic (II) level. The study describes in detail options of environmental criteria application in relation to selected product groups considering their interaction (III).
