Abstrakt: Around half of the world’s annual timber production is processed into paper. For its part in the use of this commodity, it seems that the public administration in Poland does not implement the principle of sustainable development. However, there are legal instruments available to change this situation. These are the regulations concerning the computerization of government and the specifi cs of the exchange of information by electronic means (including electronic documents), as well as conducting paperless administrative proceedings. At the same time the existence of such regulations does not mean that they are implemented in practice.
