Przejawy interferencji językowych w zasobie antroponimicznym i toponimicznym polsko-wschodniosłowiańskiego pogranicza

Abstract

This article addresses the phenomenon of linguistic interference between Slavonic languages in the Polish-East Slavonic borderland, where Polish came in contact with the local Belarusian language in the northern part of the region and with Ukrainian in the southern part. The issue of language interaction was examined on the basis of onymic material, including personal and geographical names found in the region. The study has demonstrated that the anthroponyms and toponyms found in this region exhibit a considerable degree of linguistic interference, predominantly of Polish-East Slavonic origin, at the phonetic, morphological and lexical levels. Additionally, the names under examination include a notable number of hybrid forms, which represent the most pronounced manifestation of interference. These forms combine linguistic features and nominative patterns drawn from diverse languages within a single proper name.
