Wiejskie pejzaże i obrazy metropolii w filmach 6. edycji konkursu „Filmowe Podlasie Atakuje!”

Abstract

“Filmowe Podlasie Atakuje!” (“Podlasie Film Attacks!”) is an annual event popularizing independent cinema associated with the region of north-eastern Poland. The idea was created back in 2003 in the Bialystok Cultural Centre, at Prokopiuk Ireneusz, Januszczyk Rafał and Rant Maciej initiative. As part of this event, moderators are organizing an open film competition, film screenings of works in Poland and abroad (USA, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia, Finland, Iceland, Georgia, Kazakhstan) and workshops for young people (for ęxample in Małoreczensk - Crimea, Bialystok, Supraśl). The article is a review of the films submitted for the 6th edition of the competition “Filmowe Podlasie Atakuje!”. The authors present in their works different images of Podlasie country (movies: “Bernaczczyna”, “Kurzy śpiewak”/“Chicken singer”, “Człowiek od kultury”/”Man of Culture”, “Ukraina”/”Ukraine”, “Samopoznanie”/”Self-knowledge”), and representations of urban cities (movies: “Dziwny jest ten kraj”/”Strange Country”, “Zakład przemysłowy numer 36”/”Industrial Plant No. 36”, “Fleisch”, “Monodram”/”Monodrama”). The works are varied by subject, genre and style, and the author’s representations of the world have a personal, original character.
