Abstract

The status of women's political literature such as labor camp literature, should be seen in the context of gender and the relationship between private and public space. Taking into account these categories, I would like to consider the problem of the way in which the relation between a human being and space is understood in the language and how it is presented especially in conditions as specific as the space of a labor camp. I will also consider how the understanding of space influences literary awareness of the text and its immersion in cultural contexts. However, the subject matter of my reflections will not only reflect on how this experience is described in the story, but also on what is suppressed and displaced. Although labor camp literature primas a demonstrative character and for that reason it has become a moral obligation, the inability of expression linked to the need for commemoration is characteristic of all the records of the testimony. That is why it is important to pay special attention to what is expressive but not implied. Questioning experience and understanding of space I will also explore what is outside the language, but not beyond the story. After analyzing Po wyzwoleniu ... by Barbara Skarga and W domu niewoli by Beata Obertyńska I will try to expose what the silent witness says - what is left unsaid and what the seemingly covered in reality reveales.
