| Abstrakt: | The articles gathered in this book tackle some basic concepts that come with studying the genre, including but not limited to the history of fantasy fiction, some classifications of the genre proposed by different scholars, the themes with which fantasy is engaging, as well as deconstruction of some symbols and myths that take place in some notable works of fantasy writers. It is an engaging read, no matter how much knowledge the reader already possesses; what is even more important is that it allows the value of fantasy fiction and ways in which it takes its roots in the oldest traditions of storytelling to be understood and pinpointed. |

| Nota biograficzna: | WERONIKA ŁASZKIEWICZ, Ph.D., works at the Institute of Modern Languages at the University of Białystok. She has written a number of articles on fantasy fiction and American literature. She co-edited Visuality and Vision in American Literature (with Zbigniew Maszewski and Tomasz Sawczuk, 2014), Dwelling in Days Foregone: Nostalgia in American Literature and Culture (with Zbigniew Maszewski and Jacek Partyka, 2016), and Tekstowe światy fantastyki (with Mariusz M. Leś and Piotr Stasiewicz, 2017). She is the author of Fantasy Literature and Christianity, which was published by McFarland in 2018. |
