Abstract

The article is focused basically on works written by Saint John from Cross. It is referring the Saint’s view of life going from birth to death. Both life and death are going from nothingness. However nothingness is not the main meaning of life. Nothingness is the road to God, but a man should not neglect the visible world – this is the main interpretation of the works by Saint John from Cross. In the middle of the nothingness we join into ourselves our archetypes – anima and animus, our mother and our father. This could be God inside us, because in fact we know nothing about God. The road to God is full of despair and suffering, we are going to the God through the Cross. We don’t know really the true meaning of the Cross – our view comes from semantic sense of Cross to the semiotic sense of Cross. The Cross should be the sign for us, only the sign because the semantic meaning is too much for our intellectual abilities. The very important tool to know anything about God is language. This is the reason why the language of Saint John from Cross is poetic, full of paradoxes and metaphors.
