Głównym celem było stworzenie biografii brytyjskiej poetki i pisarki Laurence Alma-Tademy, która zasłynęła ze swojej szczególnej sympatii wobec polskiej historii i kultury, a także dużego zaangażowania w pomoc polskim ofiarom wojny, emigrantom i jeńcom wojennym przebywającym na Wyspach Brytyjskich podczas I wojny światowej. W pracy przedstawiono historię życia prywatnego Alma-Tademy oraz podjęto próbę uporządkowania i opisania jej dorobku literackiego. Ponadto przeanalizowano związki Brytyjki z Polakami, a także podejmowaną przez nią działalność na rzecz propagowania sprawy polskiej w Wielkiej Brytanii i aktywność w komitetach ratunkowych działających w Londynie podczas Wielkiej Wojny.; The dissertation Laurence Alma-Tadema (1865–1940). Life and activities in favour of Poland and Poles was written under the supervision of professor Marek Białokur. The main aim was to create a biography of the British poet and writer Laurence Alma-Tadema, who became famous for her special sympathy for Polish history and culture, as well as for her great involvement in helping Polish war victims, emigrants and prisoners of war living in the British Isles during the First World War. The paper presents the history of Alma-Tademy’s private life and attempts to organise and describe her literary work. It also analyses Laurence Alma- Tadema’s relationship with Poles, the activities she undertook to promote the Polish cause in Britain, and her activities in the rescue committees operating in London during the Great War. Agnieszki Szudarek, prof. US. Celem pracy doktorskiej jest prześledzenie, jak na łamach poznańskiej prasy dla kobiet i prasy kobiecej ewoluował wzorzec matki i macierzyństwa pod wpływem zaostrzającego się polsko-niemieckiego konfliktu narodowego oraz jakie treści były do niego włączane. W dotychczasowej literaturze przedmiotu dominuje pogląd o funkcjonowaniu jednego wspólnego wzorca Matki Polki i podporządkowaniu zadań matek misji narodowej. Celem rozprawy jest wykazanie, że punkt widzenia widoczny na łamach prasy kobiecej i prasy dla kobiet nie pozwala na takie jednoznaczne stwierdzenie, zaś sam dyskurs na temat matek i macierzyństwa był zdominowany przez „misje narodowe” kobiet, ale miał on charakter postulatywny. Występująca na łamach analizowanych tytułów potrzeba zmian w rozumieniu macierzyństwa i zadań oraz statusu matek wynikała bowiem z ogólnych przemian cywilizacyjnych. W momentach nasilania się polityki antypolskiej oraz wchodzenia w życie kolejnych antypolskich ustaw pewne elementy wizji nowoczesnego macierzyństwa były przez Wielkopolanki reinterpretowane na potrzeby narodowe.; The PhD dissertation, entitled Image of Mother and Motherhood in Grand Dutchy of Posen women’s magazines at the turn of the 20th century was written under the supervision of dr hab. Agnieszka Szudarek, prof. US. The purpose of this dissertation is to seek an answer to the question of whether the situation in the Province of Posen had any modifying impact on the characteristics of the image of the mothers and motherhoods in that geographical area. The prevailing view in the literature has so far been that there was a single common The Polish Mother Patriot model in place and the mother’s tasks were subordinated to the national mission. The purpose of the dissertation is to demonstrate that the point of view published in the women’s press does not allow such an explicit statement, while at that time the discourse on mothers and motherhood itself was dominated by the „national mission” of women. However, it was postulative. Indeed, on the pages of the analyzed magazines, the need for change arose from the changes in civilization. At moments when anti- polish policies intensified and successive anti-polish laws had come into force, certain elements of the vision of modern motherhood were reinterpreted by women for national needs. Poszukuje odpowiedzi na pytania, czy nie przeceniona została rola pierwszej damy oraz czy bilans zysków i strat zawsze był wartością dodaną dla samej żony prezydenta, a także jej najbliższych.; The purpose of this article is to present the biographies of the first ladies of the Third Polish Republic: Barbara Jaruzelska, Danuta Walesa and Jolanta Kwasniewska, as women who had a significant impact on the lives and activities of their spouses while they served as President of the Republic of Poland. It is an attempt to synthetically analyze their private lives, their scientific lives and their socio-political involvement. It seeks answers to the questions of whether the role of the first lady has been overestimated, and whether the balance of gains and losses has always been an added value for the president’s wife herself, as well as her loved ones.
