Tytuł: Czytelnik Miłosza sięga po Syrokomlę. Szkolne czasy. Nowe opowiadanie Jana Dęboroga w perspektywie odwróconej
Autorzy: Okulicz-Kozaryn, Radosław
Abstrakt: The article on W. Syrokomla’s poetic tales about Jan Dęboróg (Born Jan Dęboróg), especially School Times of Jan Dęboróg, proposes to appreciate the work of the suburban Vilnius Romantic by viewing it from an inverted perspective. What comes to the fore here is an interpretation of Cz. Miłosz’s hundred years later poem, Miasto bez imienia [A City without a Name], in the end of which the title character of the tale Born Jan Dęboróg is prominently featured. This distinction may be surprising, as Miłosz in his writings mentions Syrokomla sporadically and sometimes even rather condescendingly. However, a deeper analysis reveals that there are important similarities between Miłosz’s and Syrokomla’s works, especially the sense of the inevitability of being anachronistic, the attachment to ‚familiar names’ and, finally, the characteristic ‚work of memory’ that saves them.

Tytuł: Działalność Muzeum Władysława Syrokomli w Borejkowszczyźnie koło Wilna w upowszechnianiu wiedzy i pamięci o poecie
Autorzy: Szostakowski, Józef
Abstrakt: The Władysław Syrokomla Museum in Borejkowszczyzna/ Bareikiškes near Vilnius is a one-of-the-kind institution presenting the life and work of Władysław Syrokomla (Ludwik Władysław Franciszek Kondratowicz, 1823–1862), a Polish Romantic poet. Syrokomla lived in Borejkowszczyzna between 1853 and 1862, and this is where he wrote over 20 of his pieces. The mission of the museum is to spread knowledge about the poet in the multicultural region of Vilnius and throughout the whole Lithuania. This is done in a variety of ways: the institutions publishes reprints of Syrokomla’s books, issues educational materials in different languages, arranges literary and musical meetings, hosts the annual Days of Poetry and Music called „Syrokomla’s Lyre”, and participates in conferences. The museum is also known for its popularization of local poets.
