Their poetic portraits are the starting point for philosophical reflections on human existence, death, the meaning of life for the poet. In his short stories and lyrical miniatures the writer from Krynki shows the picture of a real, symbolic, and ideological home, in the nationalistic spirit connected with a prayer to a Belarusian word. The center, or the heart of Janowicz’s home is being Belarusian and Slavic. There is a writer’s attempt to combine Belarusian national idea with Orthodoxy. The author discusses aspects associated with his family home such as the picture of Krynki, the picture of his mother, and the problem of assimilation of Belarusian ethnic minority.
