Abstrakt: The last two decades have faced an intense, and in its essence – revolutionary, development of new information technologies, especially of the Internet, which fundamentally changes political, economic, and social life. The new situation that results from this Internet boom requires redefinition of a number of concepts, including the notion of “public sphere”. The purpose of our work is to describe the contemporary public sphere in the context of the virtual space. The article opens with a framework of the concept of the public sphere, and a short historical outline of its twentieth-century theory. Then, the main trends in the Web activism are presented along with a brief description of social and political campaigns taking place in the virtual world.</description>

Abstrakt: Since the appearance of radio reportage in Poland, it has been evolving to this day. Along with its evolution, new divisions and definitions have developed. There is no one simple and consistent definition of radio reportage, as it is a specific king of work that exists between literature and fact. The article is an attempt to organise the main concepts of the radio reportage in Poland, and to present its specificity, as compared with other media, genres and practices.</description>

Abstrakt: The article is devoted to the presentation of the results of a research on the social functions and importance of participation in classical music concerts for pregnant women, infants, and young children, organized by the Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz. The research project was devoted to exploring such functions of music, as education and entertainment, as well as the functions of family in reference to stratification, socialization, identification, and emotions, as it is the family that, through participation in the high-brow culture from the prenatal period, for one thing, determines a child’s place in the social structure, and permanently imprints participation in this king of culture as a lifestyle. In Sociology of Music, Barbara Jabłońska writes that music also fulfils a distinctive and segregational function, that is, promotes class divisions in a society, as it diversifies social positions by means of consumption of certain musical genres. It seems that the concerts discussed in the article may have such a function in relation to the ways of spending free time by families. Participation in concerts for pregnant women, infants, and young children is a means of reproduction of social position by families who are aware of the scientifically proven positive impact of participation in high-brow culture on the child’s cognitive and emotional development. Conscious parenting, including participation in this type of concerts, can support the educational life chances of children. The article is based on a participant observation and interviews with the promoters of the concerts, as well as an analysis of the literature on the subject.</description>

Abstrakt: Blurring of the distinction between performers and audience is one of the characteristics of musical worlds dominated by “folk” music discourse. The rave movement originated in the United Kingdom in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and was described as “new folk music” due to the practice of collective dance, and the ideology of equality. Tomasz Szlendak’s research on the phenomenon of “technomania”, which was conducted in the 1990s, shows that these ideological postulates were not always implemented. The form and the course of a “technoparty” were often influenced by the music club’s rules and regulations. The so-called “free tekno” is a contemporary music scene that operates outside the club context and originates in the early rave. A quantitative analysis of one hundred videos on the youtube.com website, and a participant observation carried out between 2013 and 2017 at 13 “free tekno” events in Poland suggests that outside the clubs, the ideological postulates of the “folk” musical discourse are realised to a greater extent than at “technoparites” described by Szlendak.</description>
