The inspiration for its creation was the analysis of explorations of the perception of old age and old people in society, especially in perception of children and adolescents. This issue is a significant problem because analyzes and reports on the subject, emphasize that the least favorable attitudes towards the elderly manifests indicated young generation. Children and adolescents usually speak out not very friendly about old age and the old people and build their opinions on the basis of generally negative stereotype of old age and the old people in the society. Hence, it is interesting to present dimensions of old age formed by the younger generation because they become important for establishing and building intergenerational contacts and relationships. Repeatedly these dimensions which are relying on the little benevolent and not always accurate information prevent mutual and shared communion of both generations. They play an important role in shaping the personality of its members, since the family is not without reason called as the basic unit of society. The institution of marriage and family is also a place to experience different emotions. We expect from family members interest, support and help when necessary. Sometimes, however, people who are so close to us cause pain, inflict pain, contribute to our crying or sadness. An example of the second type of situation is domestic violence. It is much more painful experience because is experienced from those who are the microcosm, are the closest to each other. In the present text we present the specifics of the problem of violence sustained by older people from the side of a spouse / partner. On the basis of the elderly women’s statements – the victims – the feelings that accompany them in connection with the experienced violence was showed. At the same time, this indicates the need for conducting extensive studies in the field of gerontological linguistics, concerning the particularities of speech related to age as well as the specific features of communication with the elderly. In this speech the authors would like to discuss one of the directions of research on language phenomena related to old age, i.e. research on the particular manner of communication of those in the senior’s close environment (family, doctors, therapists, among others) with the senior. The style of communication with a person of senior age, being a result of social stereotypes of elderly people, may increase their discomfort and indicate paternalistic and condescending treatment of those in the highest age group. It is difficult to identify unambiguously, from which the abnormal phenomena may arise. Impaired memory and consciousness are most common in the elderly. Diseases which involve disturbances of memory, and consciousness are Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Pick’s disease, Huntington’s chorea, neuroborreliosis, and Creutzfeldt – Jakob disease. The aim of the article is to point out the problem of understanding legal actions carried out by individuals with impaired memory and awareness, and an attempt to establish the border between important and unimportant activities because of the appearance of disorders of memory and consciousness. 2016-01-01T00:00:00Z
