Literature, language, and culture”, that has been conducted since 2015 by Polish and Lithuanian scientists from the Department of Philological Studies “East – West” of the Białystok University and the Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas with its Education Academy in Vilnius (which, until recently, was the independent Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences). (Bilingual Polish and Lithuanian Writers), Białystok – Vilnius 2017; “Dwujęzyczni pisarze litewscy i polscy XIX i XX wieku. Perspektywa komparatystyczna. W kręgu inspiracji Mickiewicza i Baranauskasa” (Bilingual Lithuanian and Polish Writers of the 19th and 20th century. A Comparative Studies Perspective. In the Circle of Inspirations of Mickiewicz and Baranauskas), Vilnius – Anykščiai 12–13 2017 (publication: “Bibliotekarz Podlaski” 2/2019) and “Rodzina Miłoszów i inne rody pogranicza litewsko-polskiego. Historia, losy, świadectwa literackie” (The Miłosz Family and Other Families of the Lithuanian-Polish Border Region. History, Lives, Literary Documents), Vilnius 8–9.11.2019. The present volume contains studies and essays connected to the third edition of the project, which has been dedicated to the following research problems: – Multicultural families of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. – The works of Czesław and Oskar Miłosz in the context of bilingualism, borderlands, and multiculturality. – The lives and works of writers from the Grand Duchy of Lithuania who came from bi- and polylingual families. – The language of writers from the Polish-Lithuanian and Polish-Baltic States borderlands. – Lithuanian and Polish bilingual writers. – The Lithuanian-Slavic borderland in Polish and Lithuanian literature. – Family, kinship, tribality, and nationality in literature in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Part of the project was the international academic conference that took place in Vilnius (8–9.11.2019), just before the coronavirus pandemic started. The conference took place in the Education Academy of the VDU (at 31, Ševčenkos Str.), and in the Museum of Adam Mickiewicz (at 11, Bernardinų Str.). On the 9th of No-vember, the participants took a trip “Following the footsteps of Czesław Miłosz”, guided by Dr Józef Szostakowski from the Museum of Władysław Syrokomla in Bareikiškės. The project was conducted with the participation of 36 scientists from Lithuania and Poland (Vilnius, Białystok, Warsaw, Katowice, Toruń, Gdańsk, Łódź, Częstochowa, Poznań) and two from Ukraine (Odessa, Ivano-Frankivsk). The present volume contains materials related to three thematic areas: 1. The family of Oskar and Czesław Miłosz; 2. Outstanding Polish-Lithuanian families and their stories in the context of common history; 3. Varia related to literary, linguistic, and cultural relations between Lithuania and Poland. The volume was edited by: Professor Andrzej Baranow, Polish and Lithuanian culture theoretician, who works at the Białystok University and the Education Academy of the Vytautas Magnus University in Vilnius; Professor Jarosław Ławski – imagination explorer from the Department of Philological Studies „East – West” of the Białystok University and Dr Anna Romanik (Faculty of Philology, University of Białystok). Šiame tome pateikiamos studijos ir eskizai, susiję su trečiuoju projekto leidimu, kurio tyrimo klausimai buvo suformuluoti taip: – Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės giminių daugiakultūriškumas. – Česlovo ir Oskaro Milošų kūryba bilingvizmo, paribio, daugiakultūriškumo kontekste. – LDK rašytojų, kilusių iš bi- ir polilingvistinių šeimų, likimai ir kūryba. – Lenkų-lietuvių, lenkų-baltų paribio rašytojų kalba.– Lietuvių ir lenkų dvikalbiai rašytojai. – Lietuvių-slavų paribis ir jo liūdijimai lenkų ir lietuvių raštijoje. – Giminė, šeima, tauta Lietuvos Didžiosios kunigaikštystės literatūroje. Projekto dalis buvo tarptautinė mokslinė konferencija Vilniuje (2019.XI.8–9 d.), įvykusi prieš pat 2020 m. koronaviruso pandemiją. Congratulations and wishes defi ne the value attitudes of communicants and linguistic means for representing axiological dominants. The study material includes congratulations in Russian-language newspapers in Lithuania. The structure and objects of the analyzed wishes, the linguistic means of their expression as a whole are typical of congratulations to the speakers of the Russian linguistic culture. Квітка-Основ’яненко) Autorzy: Malinowski, Artur Abstrakt: A fair is a successful demonstration form of the translation of social experience, tradition, customary rules in the form of collective action. A fair is an all-public public action with the representation of the symbolic symbolic series of culture, the era, and society. The presence of fairs in the literature of a certain age is not accidental. Of great importance are the frequency of using fair imagery and the introduction of text structures of various trading models. In various epochs, their semantic load is distributed in relation to the general cultural thesaurus; that is, the system of ideas, concepts, national priorities, orientations, and developmental perspectives. In the first half of the 19th century, the statistics of the literary descriptions of the fair considerably exceeds other periods with quali- tatively different accents of this topic. Given the significance of the fair in the works of M. Gogol, V. Narizhniy, M. Pogodin, G. Kvitka-Osnovyanenko, E. Grebinki, V. Sollogub, etc., it seems expedient to emphasize the modernity of its nature, a radical change in relations between the subject and the object, or between the subject and the predicate; that is, the statement about this subject, its semantic definition. In other words, denotation gives way to a more virtual, fictitious relationship between the participants (subjects) of the fair and its objects. An opening gallery of fairs as an embodiment of two-vector-oriented culture is M. Gogol’s “Sorochinsky Fair” (1831), in which he allegedly programmed the further reception of this image, its importance, and recognizability. Indeed, Gogol creates a fair not on the plane of narrative, but as a field for experiment, and the space of various communicative discourses of pragmatic orientation. Therefore, literary, verbal-mimetic serves here as a powerful tool for constructing a spectacular dramatic action with many acts, scenes, and microscales, genre pictures, and anecdotal inserts. The work to which these deliberations refer is the collection of essays by Piotr Wajl, entitled Karta rodiny (Map of the Homeland). The author analyses Wajl’s essays using the notion of “autobiographical places” coined by Małgorzata Czermińska. Apart from that, she analyses the ways in which the author creates his own biography. In the book Karta rodiny, he builds it based on the idea of borderlands. He also includes various ethnical components in his national identity: being Russian, Jewish, and European. 2022-01-01T00:00:00Z
