Autorzy: Nawojczyk, Paweł

He describes the editorial board’s contribution to the development of research on Belarusian legends carried out by Wacłau Łastowski, his work as a secretary in the editorial board, the writings of Olgierd Bulba, and Sz. Jadwigin’s (Anton Lawicki’s) Letters from the Road, which contain notes on local history. The article shows a change in the editorial board’s priorities concerning national culture.

Tytuł: Udział polskich ziemian w wileńskich towarzystwach naukowych na przełomie XIX i XX wieku
Autorzy: Ilgiewicz, Henryka
Abstrakt: At the turn of the 19th century, Polish landowners, ignoring numerous limitations imposed by the Russian authorities, took active part in setting up and developing Polish learned societies in Vilna. They initiated, for example, the Society of Horse Races and the Vilna Society of Agriculture, which, apart from dealing with horse breeding and farming, were dedicated to education and cultural activities. They also supported the establishment and activities of the Society of Science and Art Museum and the Friends of Science Society in Vilna, whose purpose was to research national history and culture, as well as to preserve national heritage. Some landowners donated significant amounts of money; others–books, manuscripts, archival documents, works of art and exhibits. Those landowners who were members of Vilna learned societies and were bent on research work acquired necessary qualifications, explored history, gave lectures and published the results of their work.

Tytuł: Zygmunt Gloger w ujęciu krajoznawczym i folklorystycznym w Polsce i na Białorusi
Autorzy: Musijenko, Swietłana F.
Abstrakt: The author of the article argues that Zygmunt Gloger – as if he were a genuine artist – became famous for collecting, editing and examining the folklore works of eastern borderlands. Today, the results of his kind of activity are essential not only for Poland and Belarus, but for the whole Slavdom. The materials, manuscripts, folk tales and customs that he collected and systematized are a solid foundation for comparative and typological studies of the Slavdom, irrespective of language groups, histories and social issues over centuries.
