Autorzy: Obinyan, Valentine Ehichioya
Abstrakt: African literature embodies a profound ethnographic or ethno-philosophical diverse conceptions and analysis of history and existence of man. Although it has in no little way, been considered synonymously with the teleological movement of time hence the questions ‘From where is man?’ ‘what is life?’ ‘why death?’ and ‘to where does man go’ are underlying imperatives of human existence and this to a large extent, constitutes eschatology. But what is eschatology and to what extent does it envelope a broad understanding of human existence? How much does this structures human attitude to life itself? Does this qualify for a people’s philosophy? In this study we shall examine human existence in Esan eschatology especially as it constitute a broad ideological frame work to an understanding to fundamental issues that constitute being and beings and as a peoples philosophy to certain global demands. The researcher adopts a critical, hermeneutic and phenomenological method in crystallizing the wealth or quintessence and relevance of the Esan eschatological analysis of human existence in African literature and philosophy and concludes with the affirmation that African ethnography and philosophy affirms that human existence cuts across three transcendental stages in a teleological movement through fundamental or existential realities which brings his will, choice and responsibility to play.</summary>

Abstrakt: This paper investigates the relationship between the Church and the State with particular reference to Edo State Government of Nigeria during the Lucky Igbinedion era – May 1999 – May 2007. Applying the tools of historical and phenomenological research, the work reveals attempts by the government to manipulate the Church to feather its political nest by courting the friendship of Church leaders who were believed to command the obedience of their followers. The study shows that some clergy engaged in praise singing for the government in order to enjoy patronage and be identified with the cream of the society, the political class in particular. While this paper does not suggest political apathy among Church leaders, it calls for caution as exposing the Church to the vicissitude of politics could derail it from its avowed mission – the salvation of souls.</summary>

Autorzy: Ukwamedua, Nelson Udoka; Edogiaweri, Moris K. O.
Abstrakt: Igbo-African metaphysics remains the most attractive and prominent aspect of Igbo-African philosophy especially as it is concerned with the ontological scheme of the individual person. This is based on the fact that the Igbo-African life is richly permeated by various kinds of forces and this has remained the primary code to understanding the Igbo-African personality, religion and reality. It is as a result of this premise that this paper sought to appreciate this allimportant aspect of the Igbo-African world and life in lieu of understanding and situating the Igbo-African properly in his/her world. This paper then employed the critical analytic approach coupled with some hermeneutic touch in it task of understanding the Igbo-African and his world. From this analysis, it became quite palpable that the Igbo-African world and its modus operandi et vivendi is closely bond with their interactions with forces and these forces come in various forms and style. This then made it imperative that if any Igbo-African is to live sanely and responsibly, the person must first of all understand and appreciate the origin, existence, nature and mode of operations of the various forces especially spirits-forces because they guide their existence and understanding of reality. It was also blatant that the Igbo-African has to abide by the codes that guide them as it concerns their interactions with the world and the forces around them taking cognizance of the obvious typology.</summary>

Autorzy: Sibani, Clifford Meesua; Odigie, Joseph Ndidi
Abstrakt: Commonsense views on difference between men and women tend to assume that there are distinct consistent and highly significant biological differences between sexes. Gender can majorly be classified as male or female according to their physical characteristics: external genitalia, internal genitalia, gonads (the organs which produce sex cells), hormonal States and secondary sex characteristics. Because of these differences, women are capable of bearing suckling children, whereas men are not. These differences in physique between men and women usually depict men to be stronger and more muscular. Biological differences are widely believed to be responsible for the difference, in both the behavior of men and women and the roles that they play in society. Sexually transmitted diseases in Nigerian educational institutions are very alarming. This paper will address issues in equality of gender and age and how gender affects sexuality in Nigerian society. It will also look into the Bible and Christianity with particular reference to gender discrimination. To cap it up, the Christian response to sexually transmitted diseases with particular focus on (HIV/AIDS) in Nigerian educational system. Also, the psychological and spiritual assistance to the victims will be x-rayed with a logical conclusion.</summary>
