Wnioski | Wyniki badania ujawniły wyższe bezrobocie wśród młodych osób w porównaniu do ogółu populacji, mimo iż wykształcenie stanowi ochronę przed bezrobociem. Ponadto, wzrost zatrudnienia może wpłynąć znacząco na sytuację demograficzną państwa poprzez ograniczenie emigracji młodych ludzi, a także na przyciąganie imigrantów.; Purpose | The purpose of the research is the assessment of the relationship between the level of education and the level of unemployment among the young people (aged 15–29) in Lithuania between 2004 and 2024. The study focused on the assessment on how education influences employment and unemployment in this age group. Research method | In the research, the statistical methods were used such as measures of central tendency (min, max, average), the coefficient of variation, the asymmetry coefficient and the Pearson correlation coefficient. Data used in the study relates to the labour market in Lithuania from 2004 to 2024. Results | The results of the research revealed higher unemployment among the young people compared to the general population, despite the fact that the young people are better educated. High unemployment among people with higher education indicated the mismatch between qualifications and the labour market requirements. Additionally, the decrease in the number of young people and the employment increase had an impact on the young people’s migration. Originality / value / implications / recommendations | The results of the research indicated the need for changes in the educational system and the effective public policy implementation to support the young people in the labour market. What is more, the employment increase could significantly influence the demographic situation of the state, by the young people emigration decreasing and immigrants’ attraction.

Abstrakt: Goal – The aim of this article is to analyse selected problems related to the activities of NGOs in Poland working for refugees. In particular, the following issues are discussed: the definition and types of NGOs, the legal basis for the activities of NGOs in Poland, actions taken by NGOs in connection with the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border. Research methodology – The research methods employed in this article include the legal analysis and descriptive methods. Score/results – This article discusses theoretical issues concerning NGOs, including their definition and types, as well as the legal basis for the activities of NGOs working with refugees in Poland. All this has made it possible to analyse specific actions taken by NGOs in relation to the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border and to discuss specific problems faced by these organisations. Undoubtedly, the actions taken by these organisations are wide-ranging, complementing or sometimes even replacing the activities of the state. However, due to the problems faced by these organisations (in particular financial problems), their activities are limited. Originality/value – The article is unique because it collects and analyses the activities undertaken by NGOs on the Polish-Belarusian border and the problems they face.

Autorzy: Danilevičienė, Irena; Lašakevič, Regina
Abstrakt: Goal – This study aims to examine the role and significance of non-profit organisations in Lithuania’s economic development between 2004 and 2025. The research focuses on evaluating the contribution of the non-profit sector to local development, job creation, social innovation, and the activation of civil society. Research methodology – The study employs statistical data analysis, a literature review, and comparative analysis of indicators related to the activities and funding of non-profit organisations. Selected case studies of non-profit initiatives and regional development programs in Lithuania were also analysed to identify their economic impact. Score/results – The research revealed that non-profit organisations play an increasingly important role in addressing social and economic challenges. Their activities contribute to improving employment opportunities, social cohesion, and the implementation of innovative solutions at the local level. The data indicate a growing number of such organisations and the diversification of their funding sources, especially after Lithuania accedes to the EU. Originality/value – The study highlights the growing importance of the third sector in Lithuania’s economic ecosystem and emphasises the need for stronger cooperation between the public sector and non-profit institutions. Policy recommendations include the development of supportive legal frameworks and the promotion of sustainable financing mechanisms to strengthen the economic role of non-profit entities.
