Abstrakt: Although learning strategies are in the focus of attention of both theorists and foreign language teachers,&#xD;
only few scientific descriptions highlight the significance of the prosodic skills and strategies to practice them. This&#xD;
paper discusses the results of the questionnaire the aim of which was to determine English philology students’ under&#xD;
-&#xD;
standing of prosody and prosodic skills as well as to identify prosodic strategies they use to improve their pronuncia&#xD;
-&#xD;
tion in English. We can conclude that students understand prosodic phenomenon of language but they cannot define&#xD;
it, and they apply a variety of activities that develop prosodic skills.</summary>

Abstrakt: The main idea of the article is deliberation on tradition of a region. The example is Podlachia. In a theoretical part of the text, the author tries to compare terms of multiculturality and transculturality as terms describing the social sphere of living for individuals in the context of historically cultural diversity. One can find the comparison of various social processes from the perspective of local’s culture interpretation as a peripheral one, or from the perspective of the borderland, where local culture is the center for cultural artifacts’ interpretation and the background for organizing social life of people of the region. Then the author concentrates on the processes of revitalization of traditional culture of the region through examples, social initiatives as well as discovering wooden architecture, which is original for the region.</summary>

Abstrakt: The article discusses the processes of self-evaluation about intercultural communication&#xD;
competency of the individual. On the basis of gathered quantitative&#xD;
data, the author discusses a psychological level of understanding cultural difference&#xD;
and contextual influences in this regard. Three main perspectives were&#xD;
established when discussing intercultural communication competency of the&#xD;
individual. First, it is a social standard of multiculturalism. That perspective&#xD;
shows openness of individuals toward cultural plurality in the public life. Second&#xD;
is constructing community in the perspective of cultural plurality, and third&#xD;
is a sphere of skills needed for effective communication between individuals&#xD;
and groups when cultural difference is engaged.</summary>
