Autorzy: Palej, Agnieszka
Abstrakt: The article presents the work of representatives of the so-called migration literature, writers of Polish origin (Dariusz Muszer, Radek Knapp, Artur Becker, Adam Soboczynski, Matthias Nawrat, Aleksandra Tobor, Sabrina Janesch and Emilia Smechowski). They belong the middle and young generation, and their texts, implicitly or explicitly, reflect on their own identity, experience of migration, influence of the “old” and “new” culture in the process of shaping the “transcultural” identity of
protagonists. Both writers and characters in these literary texts create hybrid, multifaceted identities. They are anchored in the two cultures in which they participate. Thus, Polish-German migration literature acquires a special status: it is embedded both “between” and “in” two literatures and cultures simultaneously. The literary texts become transnational narratives and deal with themes of border crossing, migration, identity, history and cultural diversity.

Autorzy: Bielak, Tomasz
Abstrakt: The article looks at the question of using urban studies as a set of interpretive techniques in analyzing popular literature – especially in its most popular genre – crime fiction. On the basis of K.M. Bakow’s debut novel Albatros i hiena [Albatross and hyena], set in Bielsko-Biała, the author of the article shows how the criminal intrigue is enriched by a specific way of showing urban space and how it relates to the main character, detective Ewa Orlowska. The proposed model of interpretation can be used
in discussing subsequent novels by the author of Padlinożercy [Scavengers] and fits into the framework of geopoetics and text interpretation.

Tytuł: Zobaczyć ranę – uwagi o geopoetyce unaocznienia (na przykładzie Postępowania umorzonego Claudio Magrisa)
Autorzy: Gielata, Ireneusz
Abstrakt: The article analyzes Claudio Magris’s novel Blameless, which confronts its anonymous protagonist (and also its reader) with the emptiness of the whitewashed walls of Risiera, Trieste crematorium. This whiteness becomes a “symptom” (Didi Huberman), i.e. a whitened trace of, as the narrator puts it, “the real collective trauma of the city”. Magris’s novel confronts the reader with this whiteness – a “symptom” that points to the “Trieste wound”, in this way, demonstarting the temporal thickness
of place. According to Magris, tourist brochures still cover the surface of the world like sticking plasters on wounds – this metaphor summarizes the way in which literature can unveil the traumatic past of a place.

Autorzy: Trusewicz, Szymon
Abstrakt: The article discusses selected diagnoses on the crisis in the humanities. It concentrates on systemic issues related to the critical assessment of the relevance of the humanities to market realities as well as critical approaches to the humanities within the field itself. The freqenutly addressed problems faced by the members of academia are substantiated by sociological research and essayistic autoethnography. Problems of autonomy and engagement of the humanities are discussed in the context of Justyna Tabaszewska’s concept of subservient humanities presented in the work Humanistyka służebna. Negocjowanie pola i budowanie autonomii
w dobie kryzysu [Subservient humanities. Mediating the field and building autonomy in times of crisis].
