Abstrakt: The article contains an analysis of mutual relations between the literary genre and the texts creating a how-to cookery discourse, and an attempt at their cultural interpretation. Cookery books, understood as the realizations of the genre model, every time are perceived as successive links of the evolution chain of culinary thought both in the universal and particular perspective, determined by ethnic-cultural factors of a given community. The aim of the conducted analyses is to describe determinants of the genre model of cookery books, with regard to the structural, pragmatic, stylistic and cultural aspect.</summary>

Abstrakt: The present paper is an attempt at showing main stylistic tendencies which can be observed in the popular political novels of the interwar period. These works perform a function of socio-technical communicators, and present the authors’ political views. A stylistic form of typical examples of this genre is adapted to the presentation of ideological content; thus, it is dependent on social-cultural conditions of a communication act, and correlated with communicative intentions. Characteristic tendentiousness of the discussed texts appears mainly in the presence of evaluative structures. The language of these novels is characterized by expressiveness, conventionality, persuasiveness and irony.</summary>

Abstrakt: The derivational system of Polish, which was shaped in the patriarchal society through the centuries, shows a strong generic-sexual asymmetry and a lack of feminine equivalents for masculine names. In the face of dynamic cultural changes, most of European languages which had a similar problem, took up different activities to ensure the equality of sexes in grammar. Language usage of Polish favours masculine components in the names referring to women, and treats masculinised forms as logical categories of the names of functions and posts, and not as terms referring to men. Therefore, Polish remains exceptionally asymmetrical, and the names of professions show incoherence between social identity and biological gender. However, in the opposition to the language usage, there is a strong trend demanding a complete derivation of feminine names, and making the feminization of job names a requirement of political correctness. In my paper, I come back to the problem, confronting grammatical possibilities of the language with the cultural aspect of the phenomenon.</summary>
